Mumbai Pride March 2018

India celebrated the 75th anniversary of the Quit India Movement a few months ago, and we at Queer Azaadi Mumbai are calling for our own Quit India Movement. Section 377 must go! We urge the Supreme Court to rid India of the draconian Section 377 .And so we invite you to be a part of the Mumbai Pride March on 3rd February 2018!

Queer Azaadi Mumbai (QAM) is an expression, a voice, a celebration and a platform to ask for equal rights of LGBTIQ individuals. This collective of organisations and individuals comes together to organise the Queer Azaadi March, or Pride March, in Mumbai each year. Right from protests against insensitive depiction of queer individuals in media to organizing community events that address awareness issues, QAM has remained on forefront of many such activities through these years.

‘Queer’ stands for all LGBTIQ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Intersex & Queer) Individuals. This is a sexual minority group not accepted by Indian society that recognizes only two genders and considers only heterosexual relationships valid.

‘Azaadi’ stands for freedom, and it is unfortunate, that Indians are still bound by a myopic placeholder law, Section 377 of the Indian Penal Code. Join our movement and raise your voices!

Come! Join Us!  Every year, you can march with us as we celebrate all genders and sexualities and continue our fight for a discrimination-free India.  No hate, no stigma, no biases, no fear of differences – just an equal India for all. 

Not just that: we will conduct a month full of festivities and events in different pockets of Mumbai, from movie screenings, plays, drag shows, street performances, and finally, the much awaited Queer Azaadi Mumbai Pride March. Thousands of queer individuals and allies will walk to assert human rights of equality in eyes of law and society.
